Navarro ends Wharton's playoff run

SEGUIN - Evan DeLeon and Zane Conlan each ran for two touchdowns to lead Navarro to a 37-22 Class 3A, Division II area playoff win over Wharton on Saturday night at Matador Stadium.

DeLeon had touchdown runs of 25 yards in the first quarter and 3 yards in the second quarter.

Conlan scored on runs of 24 yards in the second quarter and 4 yards in the fourth quarter as the Panthers improved to 10-2 and advanced to the regional round against Port Isabel.

The teams were tied at 7 before Navarro took the lead for good in the second quarter.

The Tigers (8-4) scored on runs of 5 and 3 yards by Alfred Pinkney and a 35-yard pass from Bartee Grissom to Ashton Branch.

Grissom ran for a two-point conversion and Brett Kocina kicked two extra points.

L.J. Anderson added a 7-yard touchdown run for Navarro.
