Katie Welder Bowen and Clinton Ryan Strait, both of Austin, were married at 2 p.m. on November 24, 2012 at St. Austin Catholic Church in Austin. Reverend Gary Janak of El Campo officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Lisa and Ted Bowen of San Antonio, formerly of Victoria. She is the granddaughter of Peggy Bowen and the late Jack Bowen of Victoria, and the late Lucile and Billy Murphy of Victoria.
The groom is the son of Julie Engleman of Fredericksburg and Yogi and Robert Strait of Austin. He is the grandson of Marianne Schofield of Fredericksburg, David Engleman of Austin, and Daniel and Irene Strait of Austin.
Madeline Bowen attended her sister as maid of honor. Neal Meyer, cousin of the bride, attended as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Addie Bowen, Kim Davis, Melissa Kulig, Heather Lindeburg, Jane O'Connor, Kelley Robinson, Ashlan Strait, and Carly Thibodeaux.
Lucy Keith attended her cousin as flower girl.
Sammy Dillard served as best man. Groomsmen were Brad Bowen, Adam Gregory, Joseph Halseth, Curtis Howard, Max Mischer, H. D. Perkins, Calen Shearer and Adam Stabile.
Ushers were Marcus Hersh, Morgan Karlos, Brian Welborn and Craig Welborn.
A reception was held following the ceremony at the Commodore Perry Estate in Austin. The couple will honeymoon in Costa Rica and will reside in Austin.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Victoria. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Retail Merchandising from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Austin in 2010. She is currently working in retail sales and interior design.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of Westlake High School in Austin and a 2005 graduate of Colorado State University receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing. He is vice-president of Strait Music Company in Austin.
