The 29th Annual Christmas in Goliad starts Friday with a lighted parade and ice skating rink.

The event, put on by the Goliad County Chamber of Commerce and the Goliad Historical commission, goes through Saturday. It will include Santa Claus arriving on a longhorn steer Saturday afternoon.

Children will be allowed to sit on the steer and take pictures with Santa free of charge, said Jimmie Rader, parade chair at the Goliad County Historical Commission.

"I'm just excited to see all the people out there, and of course it is so pretty at night with the lighted parade and the courthouse is all lit up," Rader said.

The ice skating rink, open Friday and Saturday, is hosted by the Goliad Main Street Program.
