Congregations host joint Advent services

The first in a series of midweek Advent services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arneckeville.

The services, "Prepare the Royal Highway," are sponsored jointly by St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Schroeder, St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ander and Zion Lutheran Church in Arneckeville.

Supper will be available at 6:30 p.m.

Zion is located at 509 Zion Cemetery Road in Arneckeville. Members of the community are invited to attend.

The offering received at the services will be divided equally between the World Hunger Appeal of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent. The gift to the food bank will be designated for use by CAMAL House in Cuero, the Goliad Outreach Food Pantry, and the food pantry of Fannin United Methodist Church.

The second service in the series will be Wednesday, Dec. 12, at St. Luke's.
