As the year has come to an end, we, the Gabriel Project Committee and the church community, want to take this opportunity to thank you, women and men - all volunteers and contributors. Here are just a few: • Most recently, the youth of our community, a group of students from St. Joseph High School
• The Catholic Lighthouse and the Victoria Advocate, which published many wonderful articles/stories about our ministry, it's purpose and success
• Victoria Connection and Lamar Outdoor Advertising for assisting us with our advertising needs
• And last, but not least, the monetary donations.
Your dedication to helping give the "gift of life" is deeply appreciated! We thank God for you!
The Gabriel Project has been so blessed this year! People from all denominations are calling our hotline to volunteer and make material and monetary donations. With this dedication to defend the dignity of life from conception to natural death, we have grown and are now established in Victoria, Calhoun, DeWitt, Lavaca, Matagorda, Wharton and Jackson counties. The Gabriel Project is national and even established in other countries. We are taking steps to become a better-known ministry in order to do God's work. One of our recent awareness projects was to place billboard signs along the major highways with our toll-free number offering assistance to any pregnant woman who needs help. Statistics indicate 85 percent of women would not have aborted if they had someone to talk to, someone to listen to them, showing an unconditional love for her and her unborn child. The Gabriel "Angels" help these mothers by giving them the resources to make the best decision for herself and her unborn child. This brings them to realize they are worthy human beings (as God intended), learning to take care of themselves and their unborn child. Adoption is always a choice made available for her and her baby.
We would love to have any church community who believes in helping these mothers and their unborn child to join us. We are all "one" church under God. "We, the members of this church community, see in the birth of each baby a fresh expression of God's unfailing love. For the love of God and each and every one of his children, we offer immediate and practical help to any woman faced with a crisis pregnancy. We have a special concern for you and your unborn child."
"Let the children come to me. Do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." (Mark 10:14)
We always meet the second Tuesday of each month at 101 W. Convent (corner of Main and Convent behind St. Mary's Catholic Church) in Victoria. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. The focus will be on learning, discerning and fellowship. A light supper is provided, and everyone is welcome!
