Fourteen minutes after 9 p.m. was just enough time for country music artist Easton Corbin to keep the crowd wondering where he was.
The crowd was becoming restless as people started shifting within the crowd to get a better view for when he appeared.
At 9:15 p.m., that all changed as the stage lights brightened up and Corbin delayed no longer. The Florida native made his long-awaited debut in Victoria during the second annual Bootfest.
While it's not known how many people packed around the stage when Corbin performed Saturday night, officials estimated that more than 15,000 people were downtown just after 8 p.m.
Victoria residents such as Phillip Hernandez and his wife decided to make the trip to see Corbin.
"It's a big-name entertainer finally coming to Victoria," he said. "We've seen him in Austin, and he put on a show."
Hailing from Louisiana were Lisa and Robert Morgan, along with their son, Chance. They booked their trip to Victoria when they heard the artist was scheduled to perform.
"This is our first time seeing him in concert," said Lisa, chanting the words to his popular song "All Over the Road."
"He's a good young music celebrity," she said.
Randy Janak knows all about him. As a disc jockey, he's required to put people in a dancing mood, he said. So when he puts on some Corbin music, results come.
"Quite a few people dance" to Corbin's songs, Janak said, admitting the artist is one of his favorites.
Corbin's debut in Victoria is just one of three performances he will do during the next month and a half. He will perform in McAllen tonight and in San Antonio on Nov. 30.
"He has a good tempo and beat to him," Janak said.
