Laureate Alpha Omicron hears program

Laureate Alpha Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met recently in the home of Frances Smith, president. Hostesses included Mary Helen Goldsmith, Carolyn Prichard and Betty Mercer.
Marcy Turk presented the program on Lottie Deno, a well-known gambler in Texas in the late 1800s. She even played cards with Wyatt Earp and once scored $3,000 in a high stakes game. The character, Miss Kitty, on the TV series "Gunsmoke" was modeled after Lottie Deno.
Committee reports were given. Susana Moya stated Perpetual Help Home currently was housing 13 women and reminded members to bring toiletries to the next meeting on Tuesday at the home of Anne Roddy.
Members voted by secret ballot for chapter sweetheart. The honoree will be announced at the next meeting. There will be a brunch for the sweetheart in February.
The city wide social will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at the home of Joann Locher. The event will be a Halloween bunco party. A prize for best costume will be given.
