The interior of GameStop, 5305 N. Navarro St., suffered fire damage early Monday morning.

The Victoria Fire Department responded to the fire call about 1:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building, said Battalion Chief Shannon Martin.

"When firefighters made entry, they found two small fires in the rear of the building. One in a bathroom and one in a storage area," Martin said.

Most of the damage was limited to the bathroom, although some contents did suffer heat and smoke damage in the storage area, said Martin.

Firefighters were on the scene until about 4 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, said Fire Marshal Tom Legler.

The store did not open Monday.
