I could use some help applying for financial aid and registering for spring classes at UHV, but I can't make it to campus during normal office hours because of my work schedule. Is there any other time I can get those tasks accomplished?
A great opportunity to apply for financial aid, register for classes and get all of your questions answered by knowledgeable University of Houston-Victoria staff members is coming up.
Join the Jaguars will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Multipurpose Room of University Center, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St. There is no cost to attend, and no advance registration is required.
This event is intended for any prospective students, current students, applicants or transfer students. Representatives from each of the UHV academic schools and all student service departments will be in attendance.
During the first Join the Jaguars event in August, prospective students from as far away as San Antonio and Austin came for the event.
"At the first event, we had prospective students come for a variety of reasons, and we were able to address a lot of different questions and problems," said Denee Thomas, UHV senior director of enrollment management.
During Join the Jaguars, UHV advisers will assist students with:• Completing a UHV application
• Advising and registering for courses
• Applying for financial aid
• Learning about student activities and career services
• Signing up for student housing and meal plans
This also is an ideal time for students who are heading back to college to meet with advisers, Thomas said. Students transferring or returning to school can bring a copy of their unofficial transcripts for on-site advising or registration. Any necessary immunization documentation - including a record of the state-required bacterial meningitis vaccine for students under age 30 - also can be brought along.
The spring semester starts Jan. 14. UHV has a continuous admission process, so there are no specific deadlines to meet. However, students interested in attending spring classes are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to allow time for processing and registration.
