Spoetzl Brewery, makers of Shiner beers, took home three gold medals at the recent Great American Beer Festival in Denver, according to a news release from the brewery.
Shiner Bock, Spoetzl's flagship beer, was awarded a gold medal in the American-Style Dark Lager category. Shiner Oktoberfest won the honor for German-Style Märzen beers and Shiner Bohemian Black Lager topped the German-Style Schwarzbier group.
"We don't set out to make beers just to win awards; we want to make great-tasting beers that people will love," Spoetzl Brewmaster Jimmy Mauric said in the release. "But it sure does make us all proud to get this kind of recognition."
The GABF awards are the latest in a stellar year for Shiner in world beer competitions.
In May, Shiner beers brought home four medals from the Australian International Beer Awards. Earlier that month, Shiner Bock won a silver medal at the biennial World Beer Cup.
The GABF is hosted by the Brewer's Association, which represents more than 1,400 craft breweries in America. This year's competition saw 4,338 entries in 84 categories, matching the festival's largest field in its 31-year history.
