Victoria Symphony League hosts meeting

Victoria Symphony League met recently at Victoria Women's Clubhouse with Mary Jane Schurtz, president, presiding. Paula Nersesian was recognized as a guest and new member.
The minutes were read by Helen Hultquist, secretary. The treasurer's report was given by Carol McLarry.
In the absence of Debbie Durham, education coordinator with Victoria Symphony, Michelle Hall reported that every fifth-grader in the nine county region will be provided the opportunity to see the February 2013 Symphony production of "Peter and the Wolf."
Other committee reports included communication, from Helen Grant, and membership, from LaNell Billings. Mary Virginia Jacobs reported on the League's opportunity to assist with VSO rehearsals.
Cora Jo Hummel, chairman of the upcoming James Bond-themed style show and luncheon, called on her committee to tell of their progress, which was received with great excitement and anticipation by League members. The event is scheduled to take place at the Spring Creek Place Event Center on Sept. 19.
President Schurtz thanked the hostesses, LaNell Billings, Helen Hultquist, Sally McCoach, Francisca Watts, Mary Rea Finehout, Carol Letsinger and Mary Jane Schurtz.
The next meeting will be a noon luncheon at Colony Creek Country Club on Sept. 12.
