Suddenlink: No decision on new sports network

The Houston Rockets and Astros will be launching a new sports network affiliated with Comcast on Oct. 1, but other regional carriers are still undecided on whether to carry it.

Suddenlink Communications, which serves Victoria and parts of the Crossroads, is still determining whether it will carry the new network.

"We are still evaluating the new network as well as the sports events and teams it will carry, but haven't made any decisions on adding it at this time," wrote Gene Regan, director of corporate communications at Suddenlink via email.

The network will replace Fox Sports Houston as the primary affiliate for the Astros and Rockets. Suddenlink carries Fox Sports Southwest-Plus, which carries the Rangers, Mavericks and Spurs on Channel 66, and currently carries Fox Sports Houston on Channel 37.

The two teams own at large stake in the new network, combining to control slightly more than 70 percent of the network.
