A 47-year-old Victoria woman whose vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer Friday morning on Farm-to-Market Road 1432 was in fair condition Saturday at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Originally taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro, Donna Walentovic was transferred Friday to San Antonio because of her injuries.
Jennifer Short, her neighbor and friend, said Walentovic has three broken vertebrae, three broken ribs and a broken hip and pelvis.
Short said Walentovic is scheduled for surgery Sunday.
"It is a miracle she is still alive," Short said.
Walentovic was driving west on the road, about one-tenth of a mile west of state Highway 185 when a 2007 Freightliner pulled out of a parking lot and into her lane, said Department of Public Safety Trooper Gerald Bryant.
Walentovic's 2012 Kia Soul struck the left front quarter panel of the truck, which was hauling more than 7,000 gallons of crude oil, Bryant said.
The truck driver, Raymond Bernard Carter, 60, of Victoria, was not injured, Bryant said. Carter was issued a citation for failure to yield the right-of-way.
