Alexis Raich is bright, spirited and funny. Fantastically charming, she completely lights up a room when she walks in.
The up and coming actress takes on the lead role of Helen Olsen in the new release of "Helen Alone." The movie, based in Houston by director Henrik Poulsen says that immediately after seeing the actress, he knew she'd be the perfect fit for the part. While the movie was being filmed, I went behind the scenes to get a glimpse of the filming of the movie and the scoop on the actress' personal style.
Here is a look at Alexis' coveted staple pieces, the apparel of her lead role, Helen, styled by head of wardrobe - Liz Tee, and what fashion icons influence her style (she definitely loves the classics) - all here from the up and coming actress, Alexis Raich.
What is the best fashion advice you've received?
When I was a little girl, my grandma told me that 'There are three words every girl should know; Gucci, Prada, and Cashmere.' She also taught me quality over quantity and to take risks.
What are the staple pieces you covet the most?
My go-to staple is converse, converse, and more converse. No girl should be without a beautiful, fun little red dress, as well as an enchanting little white dress.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style constantly changes. I am definitely a free spirit so it just depends on what I'm feeling that day. My outfits are normally fun, easy, playful outfits with spunky or quirky twist. I might dress in edgy, rock and roll-esque clothes one day and then sweet, classy, whimsical styles another. Whatever phase it may be, I will always strive for vintage nonchalance. Basically, I go from retro girl-next-door one day to one of the boys the next. My style is very sassy and gamine.
How does your character Helen's style differ from yours? Tell us about Helen Olsen's style on set.
My style doesn't change on sets because I am happy with my personal style. I often look at my on-set experiences for new style inspiration that I feel fit my "Alexis-style" because I think it is important to feel like you. Sure, I have learned a lot and have tried new things but I think the most important lesson is how to collaborate to bring a character to life.
What style icons influence your fashion most?
Bridget Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Priscilla Presley, Twiggy, Farrah Fawcett, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Jane Birkin, Jackie O and Bianca Jagger. If you gave me a closet and mixed all their wardrobes, I would be in heaven.
