A 40-year-old Victoria man died after an all-terrain vehicle accident Sunday.

Martin Olguin Jr. was going at a high rate of speed on Reimann Road riding on a four-wheeler when he somehow lost control of the vehicle about 6:15 p.m., Department of Public Safety Trooper Wayne Cipriani said.

"He either hit the brakes or lost control, but we can see that it (the vehicle) went into a skid, and once it hit the dirt, it just started rolling over and threw him off the bike," Cipriani said.

Cipriani said he still doesn't know who called 911.

"Not even an hour later, they had told us he had passed," Cipriani said of DeTar Hospital Navarro, where Olguin was taken.

He said Olguin's body was sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

He said Olguin was hanging out with family before the incident.

"ATVs are not meant for on road or highway use. ... He was on black asphalt," Cipriani said.
