Three finalists have emerged to become the athletic director and head football coach at Palacios.
Huntsville offensive coordinator Michael Martinez, Sealy assistant Jay Viertel and former Early athletic director and head football coach Brad Bowden met Monday night with a selection committee made up of Palacios school board members, teachers and parents.
Palacios Superintendent Vicki Adams said the district received 93 applications for the position.
She expects to take a recommendation to the school board at Monday night's meeting.
The position opened when Mike Treybig announced in February he would retire at the end of the school year.
Treybig has been at Palacios for eight seasons and has been a head football coach for 24 seasons.
The Sharks went 5-5 and 0-5 in District 14-2A, Division I last season.
Rice Consolidated, a district foe of Palacios, is also moving closer to selecting a new athletic director and head football coach.
The district received 33 applications and Superintendent Michael Lanier said interviews began Tuesday.
Brad Dumont announced in February he was retiring from the position at the end of the school year.
Dumont has been at Rice Consolidated for 13 seasons, including nine as the head football coach.
The Raiders went 4-6 last season and 2-3 in district.
