What's a movie but a series of moving pictures? Without the music, our film-going experiences would surely be lacking.

That spirit - the coming together of art, music and filmmaking - is running through this year's Victoria TX Independent Film Festival and this special Get Out film festival guide.

This weekend, the curtain rises on a bigger and bolder Victoria film festival. In addition to the almost 60 movies being screened throughout Victoria's downtown area and premiere art venue, the VISD Fine Arts Center, musicians and artists from countries near and far have joined in on the fun.

This guide will help you dig a little deeper into all the goodies scheduled over the next four days.

With the Get Out crew's powers combined, we've put together a comprehensive look at all aspects of the festival - the movies, the music, the venues - anything and everything to help get you into the movie-watching mood.

Flip through the following 10 pages to not only plan your weekend but also get the scoop on Victoria's storied movie-going history and get inside some filmmakers' brains before shooting off your own questions at the various question-and-answer sessions.

The usual Get Out columns will return next week. Until then, here's to soaking up some rad films, hearing some awesome tunes and gawking at some stellar art.
