A 64-year-old DeWitt County man died Tuesday night in a farm accident on Respondek Road near Westhoff.
Arlan Sievers was found by his son about 9 p.m. pinned underneath a hydraulic bed attached to his truck, Sgt. Carl Bowen, a DeWitt County Sheriff's Office investigator, said Friday.
Bowen said that preliminary investigation suggested Sievers was attempting to offload a round bale of hay using the hydraulic lift when he slipped and became wedged between the wheel of the truck and the bed.
The bed then lowered on Sievers, crushing him between the toolbox and the bed, Bowen said.
DeWitt County Justice of the Peace Bill Robinson pronounced Sievers dead at the scene, about a mile off Farm-to-Market Road 238.
