Thumbs-up to our county commissioner, Danny Garcia, for doing an excellent job in our community because you can see a lot of changes in the short time he has been in office. I believe a person should be given a lot of credit when he deserves it.

Thumbs-up to Marvin Brunner. The man has every right to protect his property. It is time for cat owners to take responsibility for their animals. Dog owners are held to a higher standard when it comes to restraining their dogs. Why are cat owners not held to the same standard? Cats can be more of a nuisance than dogs: urine, feces, destruction of property and attacking humans and other animals.

Thumbs-down on the banner in Cuero on Anita Perry. The banner read "First Lady Anita Perry" instead of "Texas First Lady Anita Perry."

Jerry, Cuero

Thumbs-down to police for not responding to minor traffic accidents. It will only work if both parties were honest; however, a lot of drivers will not be truthful, and the innocent one will suffer.

Orval, Victoria

Thumbs-up and thank you to the Texas Department of Transportation for offering to pay 90 percent of the cost up to $222,000 for a 90-day period to fund the Victoria Regional Airport's air traffic control tower.

Thumbs-up to Bob Webb, of League City, who is leading the effort to restore the Edgar Family Cemetery in DeWitt County.

Thumbs-up to Larry Zermeno, who is maintaining a 200-year-old family tradition of public service in Goliad.

Thumbs-up to Victoria doctors Dante Garza and Jim Brand for their plan to open a laser tag business called Laserworld near the Victoria Mall.

Thumbs-up to Victoria County Commissioners for their decision to reinstate bariatric services to county employees' health care package. We are glad to see the county taking steps to help encourage and enable better health in their employees.

Thumbs-up to the beginning of wildflower season. There may not be many this year, but we will enjoy what is available.
