TMI tops St. Joseph in extra innings

San Antonio TMI scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to claim a 9-4 TAPPS District 3-4A win over St. Joseph on Saturday at Riverside Stadium.

The Flyers (15-10, 5-2) had tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on a squeeze by Sam Poland.

But the Panthers (4-2 in district) loaded the bases in the eighth and scored three runs on a throwing error.

Jerry Vasquez was the losing pitcher for St. Joseph, despite 10 strikeouts.

Eric Alvarez went 2 for 3, scored two runs and had a stolen base for the Flyers, and Poland was 1 for 3 with three RBIs.

St. Joseph visits Austin Regents on Wednesday before beginning play in the district tournament on Saturday at Riverside Stadium.

West defeats Beeville

BEEVILLE - Victoria West pounded out 18 hits in a 13-7 District 30-4A win over Beeville on Saturday night.

Cory Willemin went 4 for 4 with a triple and two doubles, and Cody Cavazos was 3 for 4 with two doubles for the Warriors, who improved to 10-11-1 and 3-4 in district.

Daniel Amador went 3 for 4 with a double for the Trojans, who dropped to 0-8 in district.
