Arguments against death penalty don't hold up

Editor, the Advocate:

I hear or read all the arguments about the death penalty, and I find that people go through the Bible and pick out the passage that reflects their own personal feelings and ignore the others. People moan about forgiveness and mercy; wait until someone kills your child, wife or husband and then tell me about forgiveness!

I have heard that it requires tens of thousands of dollars to keep a convict in prison for life. Let's suppose the state puts a 10 percent deduction from your monthly income toward providing those funds. Yeah, right! Let's see who complains then.

I will tell you this: Break into my home, kill or injure a member of my family, try to steal my belongings, and I will forgive you - just before I blow your flipping head off with a .45-caliber Colt automatic.
