East junior named MVP for District 30-4A girls soccer

Rachel Mansker was selected as the Most Valuable Player in girls soccer for District 59-4A and was joined by Kendyl Charbula as Defensive Player of the Year and five other teammates on the All-District 59-4A team.

The Titans finished the year 21-6-1 after reaching the Region IV-4A semifinal for the first time in the team's short history. They were eliminated by Alamo Heights on Friday.

Mansker, a junior, led the Titans with 28 goals and added seven assists this season. Charbula, a sophomore, led the team with 166 steals on defense.

For the Titans, sophomores Madison Hawkins and Morgan Wyatt, freshmen Destinee Kueker and Lauren Rangnow and senior Whitney Wiley were also picked to the first all-district team.

Victoria West landed two players - Alex Vasquez on defense and Liz DiSanto at goalkeeper - on the first team all-district. The Warriors landed four more on the second team all-district, including Anhila Rocha, Nitziamineth Martinez, Suzanne Ashley and Sarah Warner.

The Titans added three players to the second team all-district: Elvira Grifaldo, Kelsey Ferry and Jahnae Mata.

In other awards from the district, Corpus Christi Ray's Natalie Moreno was the offensive player of the year, Rockport-Fulton's Kacey Manlove was newcomer of the year, and Gregory-Portland's Jaclyn Vasquez was the district's coach of the year.

Victoria East also had four players earn honorable mention this year: Lydia Bast, Brisa Vazquez, Nanci Vazquez and Karla Villafranco. Victoria West also had four players earn honorable mention: Taylor Anderson, Lorenza Becerra, Londyn Bellard and Marisol Serna.

Earning academic all-district honors from Victoria East are: Lydia Bast, Skyla Caviel, Elvira Grifaldo, Madison Hawkins, Kayla Hohlt, Rachel Mansker, Lauren Rangnow, Cheyenne Repper, Karla Villafranco, Whitney Wiley and Morgan Wyatt.

Earning academic all-district honors from Victoria West are: Taylor Anderson, Suzanne Ashley, Londyn Bellard, Liz DiSanto, Nitziamineth Martinez, Mayra Martinez, Kaela Mooney, Shelby Swoboda and Sarah Warner.
