US 77 north of Refugio remains closed for railroad repairs

The northbound lane of U.S. Highway 77 north of Refugio will likely remain closed until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Crews are working on a damaged railroad trestle struck by a tractor-trailer Monday night, said Rickey Dailey, public information officer for the Texas Department of Transportation in Corpus Christi.
"Work is progressing smoothly," Dailey said.
Traffic is being rerouted onto U.S. Highway 183 toward Goliad then onto state Highway 239 that takes motorists back to U.S. Highway 77.
Train traffic is being rerouted through Corpus Christi to San Antonio, said Raquel Espinoza,Union Pacific Railroad spokeswoman.
"Crews continue making repairs around the clock," she said.
