KINGSVILLE - Texas A&M-Kingsville junior pitcher Dallas Ponder was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's National Pitcher of the Week.
Ponder, a Flatonia graduate, pitched his third shutout of the season against West Texas A&M. Ponder yielded two hits and tied a career best with 12 strikeouts.
Ponder currently has the lowest ERA in school history when pitching 50 innings or more at 1.76.
He is also holding opponents to a .197 average, the only A&M pitcher to hold opposing batters to below a .200 average.
Ponder was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season earlier this week.
