Editor, the Advocate:
Why is it that when anyone has the audacity to complain about unrestrained pets or even "worse," the audacity to actually do something about it, they are the bad guy? I have a home day care and because of the unrestrained dogs and cats in my neighborhood, I have to constantly clean animal feces off of my children's shoes. I also am concerned about them getting it on their clothes, hands and faces - which does happen at times. This is in my fenced-in backyard. In my front yard, I am cleaning dog urine off the sidewalk where the dogs urinate on the porch post and cat and dog feces out of my planter and yard on a daily basis. Have I complained to my neighbors? No! Because then, as has been portrayed in a recent Advocate articles, I would be the bad guy and animal hater. I do not hate animals. I just hate cleaning up after someone else's. I love and have had both dogs and cats. I kept them in the house or in a fenced enclosure and was happy to clean up after them.
