Services will be Friday for a 2-year-old Shiner girl who died Monday after an accident at a Shiner home.

Family members discovered Trista Sevcik unconscious and not breathing in a horse pen just feet from where people had gathered in the backyard of a home in the 500 block of Texas Avenue in Shiner, Police Chief Ronnie Leck said.

"She was possibly kicked by the horse or fell off the fence," Leck said, noting that officials think she walked away from the group for just a few minutes. She was injured about 8 p.m. April 19.

Trista was taken by ambulance to the Yoakum Community Hospital and then transferred to a San Antonio hospital, where she died. Her parents are Amye and Ryan Sevcik.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office is performing an autopsy. The results are still pending and won't be available for about eight weeks, a spokesperson with the office said.

"The parents are very good people in the community," Leck said. "At this time, we believe it was just a tragic accident."
