Almost 500 people have voted in person in city election

After two days of early voting, 487 people have cast their votes in person.

On Tuesday, 259 voted in person, according to a news release from the Victoria County election administrator's office.

Also, 875 ballots have been returned by mail.

So far, 5.1 percent of the 33,853 registered voters have voted, according to the news release.

Early voting continues through Tuesday for the May 11 city and school election.

Early voting by mail applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday. Contact the elections office at 361-576-0124 for more information.

Early voting in person continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through Tuesday at the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center in Classroom A, 2805 N. Navarro St. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Tuesday.

On Election Day, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with voting at the individual precincts.
