Memorial grad named top female athlete

KINGSVILLE - Texas A&M-Kingsville's Samantha Alvarez received the Gil E. Steinke Award presented to the school's top senior female athlete.
Alvarez, a Memorial graduate, has competed in track and field for four seasons.
Alvarez was also named the Women's Indoor Track & Field MVP at the spring sports barbecue on Tuesday evening.
She also received her indoor track & field All-Lone Star Conference award.
Van Vleck graduate C.J. Griggs received his Indoor Track & Field All-American and All-Lone Star Conference awards.
Memorial graduate Dylan Reidesel won the Academic Award.
Reidesel, a pole vaulter, had the best male cumulative grade-point average during his college career.
Cuero graduate Kelsey Washington was named the Volleyball MVP, and Flatonia graduate Dallas Ponder was named the Baseball MVP.
