DALLAS - A day after having their game called early because of a lighting failure, the Victoria Generals and Texas Marshals played a full nine innings.

Unfortunately for the Generals (28-29), they were able to score just one run in an 8-1 loss Wednesday night.

The Marshals (19-39) exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first inning, three of which came on a double by Ben McElroy.

Both sides were held scoreless over the next six innings until Jacob Hubert drove in David Paiz Jr. on a single into the outfield.

Texas responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to grab an 8-1 lead. A scoreless ninth inning by the Generals gave the Marshals the win.

Zac Vasek took the loss for the Generals, pitching five innings and allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

The Generals return to Riverside Stadium on Thursday night for the final series of the season against the Woodlands Strykers.

On Saturday, the Generals will host the Acadiana Cane Cutters in a one-game playoff.

The Generals will honor the 2013 Class 2A state champion Hallettsville Brahmas prior to Friday's regular season finale, as well as retire the jersey of Chad Kruse, who played for the team in 2011 and 2012 and holds 11 single-season and career records.
