Laney Slator Rickman, head of the nonprofit Bird Endowment Inc. in Cuero, received the AVY Award from The American Federation of Aviculture, recognizing her work with an individual parrot species, the critically endangered blue-throated macaw. Rickman developed a program to halt the blue-throated macaw species' downward spiral toward extinction. The award recognizes her 20-plus years of captive breeding the blue-throated macaw at the facility operated by Bird Endowment in DeWitt County.
TDECU has promoted Rocky Vibrock to the position of mortgage origination manager at its Victoria Navarro Branch. Vibrock is an eight-year employee of TDECU and most recently served as the branch manager of TDECU's Rio Grande Branch in Victoria. Prior to that role, he served as the branch manager of TDECU's Victoria Mall location.
Cami Hunter is now employed as a hairstylist at Illusions Hair Salon, 106 Jason St.
Crystal Rocha recently began work as a senior secretary in the University of Houston-Victoria School of Arts and Sciences. She provides assistance for the First Year Academic Experience, a program aimed at increasing freshman success. Rocha previously was as an administrative assistant at Outreach Word Academy, a former charter school in Victoria. The Edna native is pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication from UHV.
Jaclyn Lee has joined the University of Houston-Victoria's staff as a student recruitment coordinator for the Letting Education Achieve Dreams initiative. Working out of UHV's new Austin office, Lee talks with high school students who are interested in attending UHV and helps guide them through the application process.
