Brackenridge Park and Campground

Where: 891 Brackenridge Parkway, Edna

Amenities: 5-mile hike and bike trails, 12-mile equestrian trail, baseball fields, cabins, softball fields, soccer field, paintball, nine-hole miniature golf, nine-hole disk golf, picnic area and boat ramps. The park also is the site of the Texana Historical Church built in 1859 by the Brackenridge family. The church is not open all the time, but visitors can pick up a key and tour the facility. The Brackenridge family cemetery and homesite are located on the historical trail.

Lake Texana Park

Where: 46 Park Road 1; Edna

Amenities: Activities include camping, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing on the main lake, canoeing, picnicking (tree-shaded tables and grills), lake swimming (no designated area or lifeguard), hiking, good birding and fishing.

Facilities include restrooms with and without showers, a 1.5-mile hiking/nature trail (including a .3-mile granite gravel surface that is wheelchair accessible), picnic sites, campsites with water hookup, campsites with water and electricity hookup, a nature center and area for special programs, a group picnic area with a pavilion, an amphitheater, lighted fishing piers, a fishing jetty that is handicap accessible, a double boat ramp, playgrounds, a trailer dump station and fish-cleaning facilities on piers and near boat ramp.

Devers Creek Park

Where: Sutherland Street, Ganado

Amenities: The park features picnic tables, barbecue grills, two playground areas, two fishing piers and an exercise station. Two nature trails follow the banks of Devers Creek, and a covered pavilion complete with restrooms and a kitchen is available to rent for special events.

Shelby Park

Hours: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily

Fee: Free

Amenities: Exceptions can be made for designated areas lighted for permitted, specific events such as baseball, softball and football. Other uses of existing facilities after hours shall be by permit or agreement only.
