It's time to learn something new on the stage with Theatre Victoria.
The theater is accepting registration for its fall and spring acting academy sessions. Students in first-eighth grade are eligible to participate in the 10-week course by Theatre Victoria's School of Performing Arts. Each once-a-week sessions will teach students about the theater through a hands-on approach.
Students grades first-fourth will learn the basics of presentation, including movement, projection, voice and expression. This class emphasizes student creativity and imagination by retelling familiar stories and making up their own.
Older students, grades fifth-eighth, will participate in role-playing activities through improvisation and character development with monologues and character scenes. This class also will include stage terminology, audition techniques, vocal projections and movements for actors.
At the end of each session, students will demonstrate their new skills in a small performance for an invited audience.
For information about registration for the acting academies, contact the Theatre Victoria at 361-576-6277, ext. 1 or visit the Theatre Box Office at 214 N. Main St.
