DeTar Healthcare System has been recognized with the Patient Safety Award by Community Health Systems, according to a news release.
The award recognizes hospitals that have consistently achieved improvements in quality of care and patient safety.
At DeTar, a patient safety committee monitors quality initiatives and outcomes. Other initiatives that promote patient safety include hourly rounds with all patients, investments in medical technology and quarterly education on safeguarding the patient experience.
Presented at the organization's annual Chiefs of Staff meeting, the award was accepted on behalf of the hospital by Dr. Harish Chandna, chief of staff for the DeTar Healthcare System.
"The DeTar Healthcare System is supported by a medical staff that is highly engaged in our patient safety program, and we greatly appreciate all of them for being proactive in providing quality care to the patients we serve," said William R. Blanchard, DeTar's chief executive officer. "Dr. Chandna's leadership is key to maintaining these high standards."
