Paint, sculpt, draw, create. The Victoria Art League's annual Fall Art Show is fast approaching.
All you artists out there need to be busy, busy, busy, creating those special pieces of art. There will be categories in oil, acrylic, pastel, drawing, pottery, sculpture, watercolor, mixed media and photography.
Cash prizes will be given for each category and to the Best of Show and People's Choice.
Prepare now because you will have about six weeks before entries will be accepted Oct. 17 and 18.
We are looking forward to a really good turnout this year, and it will depend on each of you getting excited about this opportunity and creating that something special.

Our classes are continuing with new classes by Jim Feig, who is teaching a beginner's digital photography class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sept. 29. Also in mid-October, Brenda Rose will teach a two-day workshop making tile mosaic stepping stones. For more information, contact her on Facebook at Mosaic and Pottery by Brenda Rose or call 361-782-8339.
Lem Smith will also teach a woodcarving workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 24-26 Call him at 361-573-5944.
Dalhart Windberg and his son, Michael, will be here in November for a three-day workshop and will demonstrate oil painting for our November meeting. This will be worth putting on your calendar, so I am reminding you about it now.
Remember, Sonny Timme teaches a night class for adults Mondays and an afternoon class Wednesdays in various media. For details, call 361-578-8722.
Of course, Paint the Town is still going with something going on almost every weekday. It's lots of fun and a good place to open a whole new world of creative expression through the visual arts. Eunice Collins' number is 361-576-4043.
Our artist of the month will be accomplished woodcarver Lem Smith. He will also be our demonstrator for our monthly meeting Sept. 8.
Then in October, he will have a three-day workshop in woodcarving, so come out and see the demonstration, and - who knows - you might want to try woodcarving, too.
Do come to the reception for him at 2 p.m. before the meeting, or if that doesn't happen, come see his work on display in our gallery.
Open your eyes to the beauty around you. See expression through the eyes of area artists. Experience the world through the visual arts. Come visit us at the Victoria Art League, 905 S. Bridge St.
