Victoria College mathematics department Chairwoman Melanie Yosko attended the 2013 Mathematics of Various Entertaining Subjects Conference Aug. 4-6 in New York City. The conference was at the National Museum of Mathematics and the Baruch College Conference Center.Among the conference sessions were The Kaprekar Routine: An Exploration of Patterns, presented by Elaina Lorch, and Shortest Paths, Soap Films and Mathematics, presented by Dr. Michael Dorff.

Victoria College has hired a number of new faculty and staff for the spring semester. Those new employees are: Cliff Brown, instructional design specialist; Philip Collins and Lance Schultz, part-time Title V high school academic coaches; Cathleen Gordon, art instructor; Dr. Christopher Keating, physics instructor; Susan Sullivan and Jenise Svetlik, Associate Degree in Nursing instructors; Matthew Weiler, geology instructor; and Alan Wendel, part-time Title V academic coach.

Russell Neubauer and Mandy Lake, real estate agents, have joined Greg Spears Realty. Neubauer has a bachelor's in accounting from UHV. Lake has had experience with Keller Williams in San Antonio and has recently been with the Victoria school district. Both are in sales.
