Jackson County Cattle Raisers Association seeks consignors for February sale

A cattle sale is on its way to the Crossroads, but first, organizers need some cattle to sell.
The Jackson County Cattle Raisers Association is on the hunt for people interested in consigning animals for its second annual Premium Bull and Replacement Female Sale, said Lynn Utz, the organization's sale coordinator.
Between Texas' longtime drought and blizzards throughout the northern United States that killed off herds, demand is high for replacement cattle, Utz said.
"We're trying to provide a service," he said of the event.
Still, with increased demand comes increased prices, he said.
"It's good as long as you've got something to sell," Utz said with a chuckle. "It's a little high if you're looking to buy."
The sale takes place Feb. 8 at Edna's Brackenridge Main Event Center, according to a cattle raisers news release, but cattle will be on-site and available for viewing the day before.
A trade day, complete with speakers and vendor booths, takes place the morning of Feb. 8, while the sale follows that afternoon.
