If you're looking for a glass of frothy beer in Goliad, head no farther than the Commercial Street Bar.

The bar, which opened in July, is located just off the Courthouse Square and is home to the only draft selection in Goliad County.

The bar also operates with a beer-and-wine-only license. So that means the bartenders and its owners, Reagan and Mary Margaret Sahadi, have to be extra creative.

"We can make wine-based drinks," said Reagan Sahadi.

Other than the mixed drinks, that means the bartenders can make drinks with alcohol no stronger than 17 percent alcohol by volume. So their festive drink, the Poinsettia, is made with a lower proof triple sec liquor. The cranberry juice makes it look like a cosmopolitan, but the Champagne gives it just a touch of class.

Served with a twist of orange, it'll impress any onlookers, and it screams holiday season with its vibrant color.

"We're still thinking about getting a full liquor license, but for now, we like what we've got going here," Reagan said.

The menu also offers a Chilton Chiller, the bar's signature margarita named after the building the Commercial Street Bar is housed in. It's made the same way as the Poinsettia, he said. They use mixers with lesser alcohol by volume and are able to offer drinks outside of its beer and wine menu.

It's a sleek bar for those looking for a watering hole where you don't have to yell over the music playing on the juke - because there is no jukebox. It's cool enough not to have one.
