A 2-year-old boy who was found unconscious in the Guadalupe River died Friday.

"Right now, it does not appear to be foul play," said Sgt. Eline Moya, a spokeswoman for the Victoria Police Department.

Victoria police were called to the 1100 block of Wilden Street about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, when they found August Means on the south bank of the river.

August was taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro and then transferred to Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Moya said.

"It's just an unfortunate and tragic accident," Moya said. "We were hoping for the best."
