The Victoria Generals named assistant coach Jonathan Burns as their new head coach for 2014.

Burns will replace Stephen Flora, who took a position with Ranger College as the baseball team's recruiting coordinator. Burns will be the Generals' fourth head coach in team history.

Burns, who is also a pitching coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville, will be returning for his second season with the Generals.

Burns played baseball at Cisco Junior College and St. Edward's University. He was drafted in the 26th round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves. He played for two seasons in the minor league system before retiring to coach.

The Generals finished up the 2013 season reaching the Texas Collegiate League championship series for the fourth time in team history. They were defeated by the Brazos Valley Bombers in the championship series.
