UHV sophomore forward Sheilat Akapo was named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NAIA Women's All-Southwest Region soccer team Wednesday morning.

Akapo set new records in six different season categories this fall, including goals (13), points (29), game-winning goals (3), shots (42), and hat-trick goals (2). She also set the single-game mark for most goals and points. The Houston native scored three goals in in two separate games and recorded seven points in a win against Huston-Tillotson.

"This is a great honor for Sheilat and our program," UHV soccer coach Adrian Rigby said in a press release. "She is a very hard worker and has brought a lot to our program in just her second year of playing organized soccer."

Akapo was also named to the Association of Independent Institutions' all-conference second team.
