Christmas tree thief should be ashamed

Editor, the Advocate:

Let me get right to the point: To the person(s) who stole the Christmas tree from my dear mother's grave in the Resurrection Cemetery in Victoria between Dec. 12 and 15, I just have one question for you: How low of a human being can you possibly be? For you to steal from the deceased shows that you are far from being an upstanding and God-fearing citizen.

Now, if you have small children who would delight in the beauty of that little tree, then I refrain from my negative thoughts of you. But, if that's not the case, I feel nothing but contempt for you.

My mother loved the Christmas season. Her favorite colors were green and pink. One of her most enjoyable pastimes was to watch the many hummingbirds that would flit around the shrimp plants at the front porch. So, it was fitting for my Dad and I to erect a 2-foot pink Christmas tree adorned with green ornaments, topped with a green hummingbird and bow on her grave site. I'm sure she was smiling down on us as we did so. Now, tears have replaced her smile and ours to know that people can be so cruel and heartless.

By the way, you haven't gotten away with your shameful act. The One above sees everything. Someday, you will have to answer to Him.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and God bless.
