Victoria College's Winter 2014 issue of CareerFocus magazine, featuring information on VC's transfer plan, is expected to arrive in area mailboxes in early January.

The magazine will be mailed to 35,000 households throughout VC's service area, including Calhoun, DeWitt, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, Refugio and Victoria counties. Residents of Goliad County will also receive the publication.

CareerFocus features helpful career and college information, including an A to Z listing of the programs and courses offered at VC.

The career toolbox section offers helpful information about how to enhance job searches using social media. Another section introduces three students who took part in the Students Accelerated through Integrated Learning training. This training helps students earn their GED, while at the same time teaching them a skill such as truck driving, nurse aide or welding.

This issue spotlights VC's transfer options, which offer students a quality, affordable education leading to an associate degree and the means to advance to a university and earn a bachelor's degree.

Spotlighted in the issue is VC graduate Jonathan Sixtos, who discusses how Victoria College's academic courses, faculty and extracurricular activities helped him transition into university life. Sixtos now teaches English at Victoria East High School.

Also featured in this issue are VC faculty members Harry Wagner and Gina Ramirez-Mere, who discuss how Victoria College encourages and challenges students to succeed.

CareerFocus magazine is a free publication from Victoria College and serves as a resource to help students and workers in the Crossroads area plan and prepare for the future.
