Two Goliad men arrested on unrelated sexual abuse of child cases

Two Goliad men were arrested Thursday in Goliad on sexual abuse of a minor charges in two unrelated cases.

The Goliad County Sheriff's Office received two calls from the Goliad school district Jan. 25 regarding two separate "outcries" by two children, both under the age of 12, claiming they were sexually assaulted, said Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby.

A 50-year-old man was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and placed in the Goliad County Jail. He was released on a $50,000 bond.

The 50-year-old man was a neighbor of the child, Brumby said.

A 41-year-old man was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and was jailed. He was released on a $100,000 bond.

The 41-year-old man was a family member of the child.

After the claims were reported, a forensic interview was scheduled at the Harbor Advocacy Center in Port Lavaca. Using the information from this interview and other sources, warrants were issued for the two men.

An open records request has been filed with the Goliad County Jail for the names of the men.
