As Valentine's Day approaches, the thoughts of many turn toward love - love for their spouse or significant other, love of flowers, but perhaps most of all - love for chocolate.

With that in mind, Perpetual Help Home is hosting a Chocolate Love Affair fundraiser Feb. 9 at the Victoria Mall.

Chocolate samples from a variety of vendors will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Dillard's courtyard.

Janet Jones, who organized the event, said she is thrilled with the businesses that have chosen to take part in the event.

"Our business partners have been fantastic," she said. "This is the first year for the event, and I am pleased at how much interest there is."

More than a dozen businesses are taking part in the "love affair," giving away chocolate samples and having drawings for merchandise.

The come-and-go event will feature samples provided by H-E-B, Cimarron Express, Cookies by Design, Velata, Pampered Chef, Chocolate Fountain Memories, Double Dave's Pizza Works, The Club at Colony Creek, Victoria Country Club, Great American Cookie Co., Life's Celebrations, Chick-fil-A, Sweetie's Candy Shop, Huvar's, Victoria Art League, Sweetly Frosted by Joy and Starbucks.

Founded in 1995, Perpetual Help Home is a Christian-based organization assisting women in breaking the cycle of incarceration and homelessness through making life changes.
