Editor, the Advocate:
Everyone is missing the obvious. Sure, the kids can safely cross the street; that's not the point. The point is that St. Joseph High School needs to join the two properties for a more cohesive and efficient use of the campus. This would also create additional parking, which would lessen congestion on side streets.
The neighborhood has several outlet options. There is no one in that one block who needs to use that section of street for access to anywhere. The city and county governments are always talking about ways to enhance growth and economic development; this could help.
Therefore, it is in the community's best interest for the block to be closed so that St. Joseph High School can increase their campus and educational offerings. This will be a valuable addition to the whole community at large.
