Laureate Alpha Omicron chapter holds meeting

Laureate Alpha Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met recently in the home of president Frances Smith.

Co-hostesses were Marey Turk, Louise Pletcher and Loretta Johnson.

Tootsie Cisneros reviewed the budget for committee chairmen. Mrs. Turk, of ways and means, set the dates for the garage sale for March 22 and 23. Susana Moya asked for food donations for VCAM. Delores Kaspar, city council representative, stated the Sweetheart Dinner will be Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Sky Restaurant. Arrangements will be made by Xi Psi Tou Chapter. Chapter sweetheart, Marcy Turk, will be presented there and also feted with a brunch on Feb. 16 in the home of Joann Locher.

Jeanette Goggans presented the program, "You Are Among Friends in Texas." She gave each member a Texas Travel Guide and general information on Texas. There are 23 million people living here with more wanting to relocated here. She quizzed the group on "what is?" the state motto, bird, tree, flag, flower, etc. Excerpts from the travel guide were read from different areas such as McKinney, Judge Roy Bean's Place, Burnett, Mineral Wells and others.

Mrs. Smith asked the group to come up with suggestions for a short trip or outing that can be voted on at a later date.
