Birds on a power line were the apparent cause of a power outage Thursday night in the Pleasant Green Drive area off South Laurent Street.

"A total of 69 customers were affected," said Elgin Janssen, spokesman for American Electric Power. "One customer on South Laurent said she saw the flash across the street from her residence. The flash she saw was the overhead line fuse when it blew."

The outage took place at 9:24 p.m., and power was restored to all customers at 11 p.m. No AEP equipment was damaged, said Janssen.
