THE WOODLANDS - Sarah Alex exploded for a game-high 22 points, and Faith Academy advanced to the TAPPS Class 2A regional round with a 47-42 win over Spring Providence on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Cougars (25-14) rallied back from a three-point halftime deficit to beat Providence, which was ranked at No. 14 in the last TABC small private schools poll. Faith Academy was ranked 19th in the last poll.

Coutne Grevey hit a 3-pointer and was second on the Lady Cougars with 12 points. Tiffany Kremling added five points and Krischelle Alex added four points for Faith Academy.

Their next game will be against Austin Waldorf, which is ranked 10th in the last TABC poll. The game will be Tuesday, but a place and time have not been set.

A win by the Lady Cougars could set up a showdown with another area school at the state tournament, Hallettsville Sacred Heart, provided the Indianettes beat Boerne Geneve on Tuesday.
