David Webb, a 33-year-old truck driver injured in Monday's collision in Lavaca County, has been released from an Austin hospital.

Webb was treated Monday night at University Medical Center at Brackenridge and released, hospital spokesman Steve Taylor said Tuesday.

Webb was taken to the hospital by helicopter after a 3 p.m. collision between two 18-wheelers on U.S. Highway 77 at Farm-to-Market Road 531.

The driver of the second truck, Jose Cortez, 44, of New Braunfels, refused medical attention at the scene, according to investigating Department of Public Safety Trooper Craig Wycoff.

Webb has Nixon listed as his residence on his drivers license, but co-workers told the trooper he lived in Canyon Lake.
