Huvar's to offer breakfast, morning hours

Stephanie  Zapata, a barista at Huvar's serves up fresh brewed expresso for the new morning offerings   with fresh baked Danish and biscuit with gravy.

Those who live and work downtown will soon have a new way to start their day.

Huvar's Artisan Market and Catering, 110 W. Juan Linn St., begins offering coffee and breakfast Monday, said Erica Briggs, who co-owns the business with her husband, Robert Briggs.

The eatery already offers lunch but, she said, the owners chose to expand after Simply Delicious, which served breakfast, coffee, sandwiches and more, closed.

"It's been six months, and nothing else has opened," she explained. "We looked at this as an opportunity to fill that need."

Breakfast service will span from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, Briggs said, and consists of "grab-and-go" items such as muffins, scones, Greek yogurt and oatmeal.

All items are made from scratch daily, she said, noting gluten-free items will be available.

Stephanie Zapata joined on as Huvar's new barista, Briggs said, and the restaurant will offer a full menu of hot and frozen coffee drinks and those that are kid-friendly.

She looks forward to the upcoming change.

"We've been working on this the last six months, and we feel it's something our customers want," she said. "We're excited."
